The Wisconsin men's basketball team will play Michigan in the quarterfinals after the Wolverines beat Iowa 55-47 in opening round play Thursday. The Badgers have beaten the Wolverines twice this season, but that doesn't guarantee a victory in the post-season. Wisconsin opened conference play this year at Michigan with a Badger victory, 70-54 win. 20 days later the Wolverines traveled to Madison where the Badgers won a close one, 64-61Last year's tournament, the second-seeded Badgers lost in the championship game to top-ranked Ohio State 66-49. The Badgers won the tournament in 2004 after beating top-seeded Illinois 70-53 for their only tournament title so far. Wisconsin has been the No. 1 seed twice before (2002, 2003), losing in the quarterfinals both times. Should the Badgers win on Friday they will then await the winner of the Ohio State/Michigan State game Friday afternoon to play in the first semifinal game on Saturday.
