Badgers Football Recruiting | Badgers Moving On To The NFL
By T.J. Bryce | Posted Friday, November 23
When it comes to the recruiting, the Badgers have never really lit the world on fire compared to other schools of their stature. Yet, that hasn't kept them from producing results, although, as I have said in recent posts, I think they could be unbeatable if they would just get out their and recruit a few more athletes. Since I have spent so much time talking about their recruiting, I thought I would take a look at where they stand in that department as of right now.
To start off with, they have a super talented pass rusher coming to Madison next year. Alec James, a 6'3”, 220 pound speed rushing defensive end hails from Brookfield East High School in Brookfield, Wisconsin. James is a four-star recruit, ranking 30th out of all defensive ends in this class according to ESPN recruiting. I have actually had the privilege of interviewing Alec James on several occasions and he is an outstanding young man. All he wants to do when is being interviewed is talk about his teammates. Maybe not right away, but James figures to be a great speed rusher for the Badgers.
Next up is Corey Clement, a 6'1”, 200 pound running back from Glassboro New Jersey. Clement is also a four-star who is ranked as the 17th best running back according to ESPN recruiting. Clement is the ideal speed-power combination running back the Badgers like so much. Clement figures to join the long list of great Badger running backs.
The Badgers love instinctive, run stuffing inside linebackers. Well, here's another one. Garret Dooley, a 6'2”, 220 pound four-star inside linebacker from Rochester, Illinois is exactly that. Dooley figures to be the MIKE linebacker for the Badgers in a few years.
Next up is a perfect example of what I have been saying the Badgers need to do more of- go into certain States like Texas, California, Florida, and Virginia and come out with raw, talented athletes. Sojourn Shelton, a 5'10 152 pound four-star cornerback hails from the legendary Plantation High School in Fort Lauderdale, Florida and is exactly that- a raw, but talented athlete.
T.J. Watt On The Way To Madison
Well here comes another Watt. This one is T.J., and yes, he is J.J's little brother. T.J. Comes from Pewaukee High School in Pewaukee, Wisconsin. Watt had been playing quarterback this season but will play tight end once he gets to Madison.
Now were going to talk about offensive lineman. You really didn't think there could be a Badgers recruiting profile without talking about offensive lineman, did you? The cream of the crop is Jack Keeler, a massive 6'7”, 285 pound offensive tackle from Barrington high School in Barrington, Illinois. Keeler will certainly add plenty of pounds and figures to be yet another great in a long, LONG line of offensive lineman for the Badgers.
